I’ve owned an iPhone since they were first released. But I didn’t get my first gas app until a few weeks ago when it seemed that gas prices were not going to relent in their climb above $4 per gallon.

With gas prices continuing to rise, so is demand for today’s most fuel-efficient vehicles. And that means customers should take note of a recent study from TrueCar.com, a leading authority on new car pricing, trends and forecasting. According to the website’s data on pricing and fuel economy, the Toyota Prius remains the country’s fuel-efficiency leader, while a number of the company’s other products were at the top of their segments. http://www.toyotainthenews.com/toyota-prius-still-the-most-fuel-efficient-car-in-america/
We take a look at ways we can green up our driving. What began back in 1970 in the United States as an initiative to bring to light decades of environmental pollution has become a worldwide movement of awareness.

Guys are simple. They like pickup trucks and also aspire to own fast, racy cars.
While such blatant simplicity has serious flaws, it is definitely a fair conclusion from looking at the lists of the top five vehicles with the highest percentage of men and women buyers.
Men go for looks, while women go for practicality, according to a study of about eight million 2010 retail car-buying transactions by TrueCar.com. And besides favoring fuel efficiency, women also seem to like imports.

Toyota has announced a new partnership with U.S. start-up WiTricity Corp. The partnership is aimed at building new technology for charging the batteries of electric vehicles without the need for plugs. The two companies will build technology capable of charging EVs and plug-in hybrids through an embedded charging system in the floor of a garage and a receiver mounted on the underside of the vehicle. Toyota believes that a wireless charging system will make the process of “fueling†an EV less cumbersome. By making it easier for owners, Toyota believes this technology will ultimately spur wider use of EVs and plug-in hybrids                                                            http://www.toyotainthenews.com/toyota-develops-wireless-car-charging-tech/
Newer vehicles are a lot more secure. But that’s not true in all ways; used-car shoppers still need to watch out for some of the same old sleazy strategies: namely, odometer tampering. Earlier this month, federal agents brought charges against four who were involved in an organized crime ring—based in the Seattle area. http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/TheCarConnection/~3/vI-D1Q2Q13k/1059155_odometer-fraud-is-still-rampant-look-out-for-these-signs

It’s the year of the electric car in New York. Or at least the latest year of the EV. The Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt launched this year to a lot of fanfare. Soon they will be joined by at least three other pure electric vehicles from major automakers, and potentially several more from startup car companies.

PEORIA – The latest numbers for retail sales in Central Illinois show surprising growth for the region. Numbers released by Bradley University show a 9.2% jump in sales between the fourth quarter of 2009 and the fourth quarter of last year. Amid all the talk of a sluggish economy, local businesses have seen the customers really start to roll in the last couple of months.
PEORIA -  Some Peoria area students are drumming up support for a trip to Europe. The Peoria Park District’s “ELITE” Pulses of Hope Drum Line is a group of high school students that performs at community events. The group has been chosen to represent Peoria at a festival in the city’s sister city in Germany. But first, the group must raise enough money to get there.
For Ella Maxwell, a horticulturist and certified arborist at Hoerr Nursery in Peoria, Ill., the greatest sin when it comes to pruning is simple: Not pruning. “People are afraid,” says Maxwell. As pruning procrastinators, we wait until the tree is mature and misshapen before we decide to take our pruning shears or chainsaw to it. “We don’t do it when they’re small; when even if you made a mistake, it would probably grow out of it,” says Maxwell.
